The very successful Cape Town concert series Music Alla Kaap is back in 2019 with this incredibly diverse all-star line-up. In its 6th year, Music Alla Kaap has become a must-see event on Cape Town's social calendar and now coming to Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth. This year’s show promises to be all and more featuring international award-winning group, All-4-One, South African stars; Alistair Izobell, Emo Adams, Sasha-Lee Davids, Lady Zamar and Niesa Abrahams.  Previous sold out shows included the late Zayn Adam and Percy Sledge, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, Judy Boucher, PJ Powers, RJ Benjamin, Richard Jon Smith , Marc Lottering,  Shaleen Surtie Richards, Vicky Sampson, Leslie Kleinsmith and many more.

 The show is produced and conceptualised by the incomparable Alistair Izobell who will also be performing on stage with the rest of the stars.  

Music Alla Kaap is a show that celebrates great music and gives new artists a platform and iconic artists another opportunity to shine on the big stage.  All the performers are backed by the very best South African musicians. Music director is Camillo Lombard and a hand-picked ten ten-piece band.  

 

All-4-One If you’ve ever been in love, then you’ve heard the name All-4-One and their timeless songs “I Swear”, “I Can Love You Like That”, “So Much in Love”, “I Turn to You”, “These Arms”, “Beautiful as You” and many more. The Grammy Award winning group All-4-One is internationally known for making beautiful love songs that not only chart radio airwaves, but also garner countless awards. All-4-One’s very first single “So Much in Love”, scaled to RIAA Gold Sales and top 5 pop status. The California based quartet soon marked their place in the industry as premier balladeers. Their second single, “I Swear”, claimed the billboard “Hot 100” #1 spot for 11 consecutive weeks, while sales sky rocketed to hold the #1 selling single status in 1994 and third most successful single of the rock era. “I Swear” holds a spot on the Billboard’s “Hot 100”as one of the most successful singles of all time and has been named by ASCAP as one of the greatest love songs of the 20th Century. “I Swear” is recorded in history with an imprint in the Guinness’s World Book of records (as the biggest selling single of 1994). To date the band has sold over 20 million units worldwide, won a bevy of awards including a Grammy, an American Music Award, a Blockbuster Award, countless international awards and completed multiple major world tours.  All-4-One is featured on the following: Tapestry Revisited: A Tribute to Carole King, with their rendition of “Tapestry”, which sold over a million units, the multi-platinum soundtrack to Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film, The Hunchback of Notre Dame with the main theme song “Someday”, and the Space Jam Soundtrack, a 5 time platinum album with “I Turn To You”. They are also featured on the soundtrack to the movie Mi Familia with the song “One Summer Night”, a 60’s remake and the 1996 Grammy Nominees album, with “I Can Love You Like That”. The Grammy album is a compilation of songs nominated for song of the year and this too sold a million copies.  All-4-One’s songs are regularly featured in TV Commercials, music compilations TV Shows and Major Motion Pictures such as the hilarious Ryan Renolds comedy Just Friends, The Social Network and Nothing to Lose. Celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year, All-4-One continues to tour the world

They will be performing the newly recorded track, “Africa Arise” for the very first time with the very talented home-grown star, Sasha-Lee Davids. Lady Zamar, Yamikani Janet Banda aka Lady Zamar is a multi-platinum selling and multi-award winning South African musician, essayist, academic and entrepreneur. Her remarkable career began when she formed a duo with Junior Taurus, and together they had massive success with the single “Mamelodi” from their debut album “Cotton Candy”.  Her debut solo album “King Zamar” released March 2017 has been widely praised as one of the best dance albums to be released in South Africa garnering her, her first SAMA award in 2018, she also bagged two more awards off the smash hit “Charlotte” where she was featured by Prince Kaybee. Her solo career saw her record songs such as “Love Is Blind”, “Criminal” with DJ Mshega and “My Baby” of which all sold over gold status. Lady Zamar’s single “Collide” topped the charts throughout the 2018 and was the most played song on radio for the calendar year 2019. The song broke all previous records for the number of spins for one single by a single artist across all radio stations in South Africa.  Lady Zamar has received numerous awards including; SAMAs, DSTV MVCA, and SA Dance Music Awards. Alistair Izobell has become widely regarded as one of Cape Town`s best champions of local music and entertainment and has created many opportunities for young artists. He is one of South Africa`s foremost artists, producers and musical directors, having started his career at age seven, and later went on to perform in David Kramer and Taliep Petersen`s Kat and the Kings, which earned him and the cast the Laurence Olivier Best Actor in a Musical award. His recent successes include; Music All Kaap series of concerts, Music Director for Aunty Merle the Musical with Marc Lottering, which is now on at the Joburg Theatre and the Time Square Sun Arena launch last year (The finale song “Africa Arise”, written by Alistair was performed by the cream of SA stars including; Lira, Zonke, Lady Zamar, PJ Powers, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Jimmy Nevis, Vusi Nova, Claire Johnston (Mango Groove), Sasha-Lee Davids, Nur Abrahams, Jeremy Oliver, Timothy Moli and Karin Zoid. Emo Adams proudly born in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town and is known for his performances with David Kramer and Taliep Petersen. This talented, versatile artist has released music albums, started the music group “Jag”, performed in a variety of TV series and is also the presenter of his own show “Jou Show met Emo” on KykNET. Celebrating 30 years in the industry in April 2018 Emo filled GrandWest arena without a single mention of who the accompanying acts would be. The Brain child behind “Maak my Famous” a community driven nationwide talent search, which will air on KykNET on 18th April this year.  Emo is most comfortable in the position of director and producer. With several awards behind his name, including a Bokkie award for best TV personality, Emo has crept into the hearts of all South Africans. Sasha-Lee Davids, the multi-talented artist, singer, actress and presenter was born in Atlantis in the Western Cape. Sasha-Lee was the co-winner of SA Idols 5 in 2009 and winner of the 2008 reality TV show "Matrix" 2. After a two-year gap, Sasha Lee returned into the limelight with a reality TV show called The House of Davids or Huis van Davids. It showcased the lives of the Davids family and their involvement in the community of Atlantis. She released her début album, “Sasha-Lee” and had the opportunity to work with Jamie Jones, lead singer of the Grammy Award winning group All-4-One, on a track entitled, “Before You”.  Sasha was the opening act for Wayne Brady's South African tour back in 2009. They became friends and he invited her to USA that year . Wayne also happened to be very good friends with Jamie and that’s when she recorded the song for the Idols Album. They have all stayed firm friends.  Alistair Izobell had written a song years ago and recently asked Sasha-Lee to record a demo (to be sent to All-4-One) with the help of her brother, Laurenzo Davids and Ralph Johannes who created the music. All-4-One loved the track and wanted to be part of it and that’s when the magic happened……  Sasha-Lee returned to the USA in November 2018 and recorded “Africa Arise” with All-4-One. The single will be released on all platforms in mid-February 2019. Sasha says; “ I'm exploring different avenues of my career, including starting as the new presenter of the tv show “Pasella” and I’m loving every minute of it. Niesa Abraham’s is affectionally known as Cape Town's own Shirley Bassey. She was born in District Six, Cape Town in the late 40’s. She has performed in numerous shows at the Luxurama, Star Bioscope’s and other venues around the country during the 70’s and 80’s. Niesa performed in a variety of shows including, Musicana Express, The Golden City Dixie's, The Great Pretenders and had the privilege to perform with Pacific Express and the late Zayn Adam.  She toured with the Giempie Vardie and the top Cape Town crooners with the show “A tribute to The Platters” thought Spain and all over Europe on the passenger liner, The Symphony. She has an extensive performance record in a host of big variety shows and smaller more intimate venues all over Cape Town. Niesa, together with the cream of Cape Town artists, performed in the very successful run of sold out shows of, “Remembering the Lux” (written by Alistair Izobell and Lara Foot) at the Baxter Theatre in 2017.  She played herself and told her own story in the production.  She was one of the very first performers at the iconic Luxurama Theatre which was built by the Quibell Brothers in the 60’s.  In keeping with the Music Alla Kaap tradition, to celebrate artists that have not been validated, acknowledged and respected for their contribution to their craft over their long careers, Niesa has been added onto the bill. Audiences and her peers will be able to acknowledge this incredible voice at the Cape Town show.

 

Camillo Lombard (Music Director) for all three shows Camillo is a Musician, Director, Composer and Educator from Kuilsriver in the Western Cape. He was born into a musical family. He is a self-taught instrumentalist who started playing piano at the age of 4, and professionally at 19. He received his performance Diploma from

the London College of Music in 2011, Jazz Piano Teacher’s Diploma in 2014, and Fellowship Degree in 2015. In February 2015 he was a visiting African Scholar and Performer at the Berklee College of Music, Boston USA. He is well traveled and has performed in many countries at various jazz festivals. Camillo is a Co-Founder and Executive Director of Cape Music Institute, and has managed the

music institute for 14 years. He is the pianist for well- known band TopDog SA who has released their album Griqua DNA, and DVD - Nama Jazz Series. Camillo has musically directed many big concerts with companies and festivals around the country. He has composed, produced and recorded on a multitude of artist albums and performed on numerous television music programs and game shows in SA.
